[VMware] vSphere Update 3 releases withdrawn

VMware has withdrawn all vSphere 7.0 Update 3 releases. This includes:

  • vSphere ESXi 7.0 Update 3 (build 18644231)
  • vSphere ESXi 7.0 Update 3a (build 18825058)
  • vSphere ESXi 7.0 Update 3b (build 18905247)
  • vSphere vCenter 7.0 Update 3b (build 18901211)

There were many issues related to these versions that caused VMware to remove these versions from their repositories.
My experienced engineer colleagues here at soulTec have always been cautious about new releases, as in recent years VMware has often had to follow up a major release with an “abc” release that fixed the most critical issues that were overlooked during quality control.
If you are currently using one of the listed releases and encounter any of the identified issues, VMware recommends submitting a support request to them. The upgrade path for the future will be the next vSphere patch release, which has not yet been announced.

For more information on this withdrawal, see KB 86398. For more information on the issues related to these versions, see KB 86287 and KB 86281.

Update:

VMware has released vSphere 7.0 Update 3c which fixes the problems associated with the withdrawn releases. We recommend to update as soon as possible should you be on one of the withdrawn releases.
